Webinar on International Standardization in Underwater Acoustics

We were delighted to welcome over 40 participants to the third and final installment in our SATURN webinar series on Underwater Acoustics! For those who were unable to attend, a recording of the event is now available on our project YouTube linked above!

International standardization in underwater acoustics began in 2011 with the creation of the Underwater Acoustics Sub-Committee of the Acoustics Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Four international standards have been published to date on subjects as diverse as vessel underwater radiated noise (URN) measurement, pile driving and underwater acoustical terminology, and SATURN is contributing to the development of two new standards, one for measurement of URN in shallow water, and one on bioacoustical terminology.

As part of this webinar, we had presentations from the following speakers:

  • Kathrin Kopke - MaREI, UCC

  • Michael Ainslie - JASCO, Applied Sciences

  • Christ de Jong - TNO

  • Michele Halvorsen - JASCO , Applied Sciences

  • Stephen Robinson - National Physical Laboratory

This webinar was hosted and facilitated by the SCEI research team and WP5 leads at MaREI, UCC.
