SATURN project coordinator Gerry Sutton features in the news this month with an article by resident contributor to The Irish Times, Michael Viney entitled, ‘Undersea Noise Caused By Humans a Major Threat to Whales and Dolphins’. In this piece, Gerry discusses the aims and objectives of the European Commission Horizon 2020 funded SATURN Project, and how it is working to mitigate the increasing global issue of underwater radiated noise. Gerry also acknowledged the work of the INTERREG Atlantic Area funded JONAS Project and how it is addressing threats to biodiversity from underwater noise pollution through better risk management and monitoring.
Both SATURN and JONAS are coordinated by Gerry through MaREI, The SFI Centre for Energy, Climate and Marine, at University College Cork.
