Developing a new standard for underwater noise

Between 29 Sep and 5 Oct, the International Organization of Standardization (ISO) is holding three half-day meetings dedicated to the development of a shallow water URN measurement standard. SATURN researcher Christian Audoly of Naval Group will convene the working group responsible for the standard, and several SATURN colleagues will participate in these meetings, including Michael Ainslie of JASCO Applied Sciences, and Christ de Jong of TNO.

Over the course of the project, SATURN will develop and contribute to the establishment of standards for terminology and methodology to be used across all disciplines working on underwater radiated noise. Our participation in these ISO workshops reflects our commitment to developing and using international standards in our research to measure, assess and compare the impacts from underwater noise generated by shipping and boats.
