We’re very excited to share with you a poster for classrooms about sound and the ocean! This poster explains concepts such as frequency, amplitude, and decibels, while also introducing students to sources of sound in the ocean. Spectrograms of the sounds made by marine mammals and a container ship show the differences between natural and anthropogenic sources of sound.

By scanning the QR Code in the bottom right corner, viewers will be taken to a page on our website where they can listen to these sounds. To hear what pilot whales, harbour porpoises, harbour seals and container ships sound like, visit our new Ocean Sound page!
This poster was a collaboration between Amy Dozier (University College Cork) and Rosalyn Putland (CEFAS). Thanks to our colleagues at Aarhus University and the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover for providing sound files.

This was a fascinating presentation of the Ocean Sound poster and the ideas behind it. The connection between science, communication, and design was explained in a way that felt both educational and inspiring. Midway through, it made me think of how https://grandoaksorthodontics.com/ presents specialized information in a simple, reader-friendly format. The way you explained the topic was very clear and helpful. I recently came across a similar discussion on a review blog, and it offered an interesting perspective as well.
